PCDEurope at FEND 

FEND’s (The Federation of European Nurses in Diabetes) annual meeting will take place in Vienna on 25th and 26th of September 2009. PCDEurope will be present with an information desk and will be represented by Mrs Lena Insulander.

 PCDEurope at EASD
From 29th september until 2nd October the 44th EASD annual Meeting will take place in Vienna. PCDEurope will be represented at this Congress by Dr. Johan Wens and Dr. Xavier Cos. PCDEurope will have a booth in the congress hall where visitors can get information about PCDEurope’s mission and policy or how to become a member.
PCDE’s liaison officer and FEND Chair Anne Felton and EASD Study group leader and PCDE member Prof. Guy Rutten will also be present at EASD.

 PCDEurope at St. Vincent Anniversary (21-23 November 2009)
The 20th anniversary meeting of the St Vincent Declaration is jointly organized by the European Region of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF Europe), the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD), the Alliance for European Diabetes Research (EURADIA), the Federation of European Nurses in Diabetes (FEND), the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD), Primary Care Diabetes Europe (PCDE), and Diabetes UK. WONCA, Basel, 16–19 September 2009

PCDEurope will be represented at WONCA by Chairman Dr. Johan Wens who will give a presentation named  ”20 years after St Vincent Declaration … and now?” PCDE board members Dr. Imre Rurik and Mrs. Guusje Neijens will organise workshops. Dr. Rurik’s subject will be “Nutritional counselling in the primary care office.”
Mrs Neijens’ subject will be “The surplus value of a practice nurse in diabetes care”

The declared goals of the project:

-Facilitating the collection and monitoring of epidemiologic and economic data.

-Encouraging the development of a minimum standard of care to prevent complications and improve quality of life.

-Helping the share information and promote best practice at European level.

-SWEET’s main objective is to improve secondary prevention, diagnosis and control of Type 1 and 2 diabetes in children and adolescents by supporting the development of centers of references (CORs) for pediatric and adolescent diabetes services across the EU.

Aims and Scope:

 Primary Care Diabetes is the official journal of Primary Care Diabetes Europe. The journal publishes original research articles and high-quality reviews in the fields of clinical care, diabetes education, nutrition, health services, psychosocial research and epidemiology as far as is relevant for diabetology in a primary-care setting. The purpose of the journal is to encourage interdisciplinary research and discussion between all those who are involved in primary diabetes care on an international level. The Journal also publishes news and articles concerning the policies and activities of Primary Care Diabetes Europe and reflects the society’s aim of improving the care for people with diabetes mellitus within the primary-care setting.
